State feedback control of a DC motor (current and speed control at the same time)

5 views (last 30 days)
Hi everyone, I have implemented cascaded control of a DC motor (inner current loop and outer speed loop) using simulink. I was trying to do the same (speed and current control) using the state feedback control method. I am a newbie to the state feedback control method and would like to know if it is even possible to do such a thing. I have seen videos and other material explaining speed control but was wondering if both current and speed could be controlled at the same time. Later, I intend to perform field oriented control of a permanent magnet synchronous motor using state feedback method. Since that too has a cascaded control method for controlling the speed and q-axis current, it would be great to know if I am proceeding in the right direction.
Thanks!

A good starting point is the DC Motor Control (State-Feedback and Observer) example in Simscape Electrical. Here a state-feedback controller and a Luenberger Observer are employed.
