How to make an exe with guide and excel file as input

I have been working on a guide file which code reads data from an excel sheet among other things. I change values in the excel sheet and run the program to obtain new results.
The point is when I make the exe from this guide, I loose the posibility to work with the excel file and therefore change its values.
What i wanna know is how can i make the exe and still be able to open the excel sheet and change its values?

SOLVED!, I just had to avoid adding the excel input to "other files" when the exe is being created. Then when the exe is run in other computer, just copy the excel input in the same folder of the exe and the connection between them works great. It works for output files as well. Thanks for the answers!

why not to add flexibility of letting a user choose a excel file with my approach ?

Or my approach which allows you to "able to open the excel sheet and change its values" and "work with the excel file and therefore change its values" like you said you wanted. ActiveX is the only way to do that. Functions like xlswrite don't allow you to keep Excel open and work with the "work with the Excel file", or do anything like formatting, they just batch process the thing all in one shot and leave Excel closed.

  1. Put a button in your GUI
  2. Assign a uigetfile function to that button to read your excel file
  3. Test everything works correctly
  4. make exe of your gui

You need to use ActiveX. Here's a demo where I write to a workbook. You do similar to read from it.

I think it does not work when the excel file already exists.
In this case, the program deletes the file ( delete(fullFileName); )
Then, when the program tries to open up the file ( invoke(Excel.Workbooks,'Open', fullFileName);
an error appears
??? Invoke Error, Dispatch Exception:
The program can not open the file deleted previously
