i just calculate the magnitude from the abs value of images.but it returns the large matrix having abs values value.but i want the one magnitude value for the whole images?. i used max function.is it correct?

Based upon the information you have provided, the required outcome is undefined, so you might as well use _any_ magnitude between the minimum and maximum value.

There are multiple ways of defining the "magnitude from the abs value of images", and using max() is one of the ways. It does not appear to be a common way, but whether it is right or wrong depends upon your needs.

lets say A is an 2dim matrix.. max(A) gives a row matrix with elements as maximums in each column.
>> A= [1 3 5;2 6 7;9 7 2]
then, max(A)=[9 7 7]
and then max(max(A))=9
