I have an image from thermal camera that most parts are red ( the temperature is high) and some places the color is bright ( light yellow or something near that). I want to distinguish those light color area from the other region and extract the coordinates. Does any body can provide any guidance.
Thanks a billion.

You can convert the RGB image to LAB space, in that way, you could distinguish different colors regardless what brightness they have. There is a MATLAB tutorial that may be helpful:

Thanks for your reply. My problem is not the brightness. I mean some colors are light like yellow and the others are dark. I want to got the coordinates of the Sections that differs from the majority.
Thanks
