Error using load when I try to previously saved .mat file in MATLAB 2016a

Hi there,

I have a problem with opening a saved .mat file. I am getting this error:

Error using load Number of columns on line 2 of ASCII file J:\FeatureSelectionGA\Results22Jan2017.mat must be the same as previous lines.

Any help would be appreciated! Tahnks

Your .mat file is not a valid binary .mat file. It might be a text file, but if so then it does not contain text saved as -ASCII

Thanks Walter. Actually I saved my Workspace but I am not able to open it. I tried the code which you linked to and got this message:

first line of file is: |MATLAB 5.0 MAT-file, Platform: PCWIN64, Created on: Sun Jan 22 12:20:22 2017

Also, the whos -file reports for some of the saved variables not all of them:

Can you attach the file?

I suspect it might be corrupt; you might potentially still be able to recover something from it.

Thanks again Walter. I just found the problem which was the large size of my .mat file and there was not enough space on my drive!

Forgot to mention that I can run the code again and get the results. However, it takes a couple of hours :)

Ah, running out of disk space can sure cause problems!
