rooot locus

hi as i am dealing with matlab.. well all is going well but my transfer function has some decimal values due to which an error comes in command window..
'"??? Undefined function or method 'root' for input arguments of type 'char'.
how to get rid of this error...? and get the root locus.???
plzz help me.... regards SC
