Trying to Uninstall MATLAB on Ubuntu 16.04 but can't find lmdown in /usr/local/MATLAB/R2017b/etc

I would like to uninstall MATLAB, and from what I've found online so far, I need to start by running the lmdown script located in /usr/local/MATLAB/R2017B/etc (by default) to shut down the license manager. The thing is, I don't have any lmdown anywhere at all in my system. I think perhaps when I attempted to install MATLAB, it might've stopped before the installation was complete, and perhaps because of this, some files are missing, including the lmdown script? Someone please help!
Also, come on MathWorks. This is ridiculous. There needs to be a much more common sense way of uninstalling your software like most other pieces of software out there. I know this is Linux but seriously.

I have the same issue in 2022. I've rarely seen a more obtuse and confusing site like mathworks'
