I am also having this problem.. but I use a 2015 model mac. I would say it's still in relatively good condition.

A couple of days ago, I was getting 1.5 Mbit/s to 1.6 Mbit/s, during the middle of the (North American) night; my link is rated to 300 Mbit/s.

Hi
Your download may be taking an unexpected amount of time due to the following reasons:
1. You may be experiencing slow internet speeds. You can attempt to connect to the internet with an ethernet cable instead of using a WiFi connection, restart your modem and router, or connect to a different network.
2. If you are using anti-virus software this may also cause the download to take longer than expected. A common feature in anti-virus software is "live-scanning," which scans every file as it downloads. This can slow the download considerably. As a workaround you can temporarily disable this feature while downloading.
Thanks
