stepwisefit: sequence of predictive terms

Does the sequence in which predictive terms are stored in X have an impact on the model outcome? If so one would list the predictive terms based on some pre-assumed significance. The question relates to the case in which no Initial Model state is specified (default being no term included). Thanks for your help.

No, the order of the explanatory variables in X is irrelevant. The terms come into the model in the order in which they most improve the fit.

You might want to consider also using the function STEPWISE (not to be confused with STEPWISEFIT), which provides a simple graphical output of what's going on with the terms, step by step.
