Hi, I used cftool to fit my data with a function. R^2 = 0.88. Do I need to do a goodness of fit after this to make sure the fitting is good enough? How do I do that in Matlab?

I understand that you have used ‘cftool’ to fit data with a function and now want to do a goodness of fit evaluation. After fitting data with one or more models, you should evaluate the goodness of fit. A visual examination of the fitted curve displayed in the 'Curve Fitter app' should be must.
To get an idea of how to do goodness of fit evaluation you can refer to the documentation links below-
