knowing about examination of contact lens edge detection

hi! we are having project with other department in university. But we face some problem so i wanna some information. What i want to know is examination of contact lens which use lens edge detection(circle shape) and measure radius. I want to make program which can detect edge which is right circle shape and dented cirlce shape. So could you some give me some advice and example file which is exmation of contact lens?? And if it is possible, could you give information(source code) how to digitize defective product by using examation program?? -The program is operationg grey scale
