MATLAB Simulink Embedded Coder - SCI for DSP communications

Hello,

We are using Simulink Coder to program a TI-28335 DSP through the Code Composer Studio and currently we use the SCI Transmit/Receive blocks in the program model for on-line communications with the DSP. We are able to send commands to the DSP through the RS-232 cable using the host SCI transmit and Receive blocks. It all works fine through MatLab but when we try to send commands to the DSP through the RS-232 from any other software (Measurement & Automation, Hyper-terminal, Labview, etc.) The data sent and received seems to be in an unreadable state and somewhat inconsistent. It seems as though the DSP successfully gets data to and from MATLAB but not another software or interface. Any suggestions?
