can we subtract two signals received at radar receiver using matlab in digital domain. the received signal from radar has phase shift. so if one signal consist of only clutter of a small room and another signal consist of clutter as well as reflections from human chest, can we subtract these two signals to enhance human vital signal. does the phase of the signal affect? is it correct to subtract the signal to reduce clutter? or does there any other methods to reduce/ eliminate the clutter digitally, in order to increase the vital sign (human respiration and heartbeat signal) level?

Hi Lynette,
I think you are talking about pulse canceller, which is a well known technique in MTI radar. Yes it can be used to reduce clutter. As long as the total signal can be modeled as clutter signal plus vital sign signal, then the phase of vital sign signal should not be affected by the subtraction.
