How would I find facial pores off an image?

I have a project on detecting facial pores off a picture of a person's facial skin, and then produce circles around the pores.

I started using Image Analyst's "BlobDemo" to get an understanding, but I'm fairly new to MATLab.

Anyone have some helpful tips or programs that could help with this project?

Any algorithms specific to your project would be more complicated than Image Analyst's "BlobDemo" (or at least not simpler), so I suggest getting up to speed with that first.

If it's too much to start there, I'd look at the Getting Started help section of MATLAB first and the help for the Image Processing Toolbox second.
