Can I use SimMechanics to model cell mechanics?

3 views (last 30 days)
I would like to model cell mechanics including the cell membrane as an elastic surface and the cytoskeleton/filaments as thin elastic rods attached at different points on the inside surface of the cell. I would then like to change the cell surface are or apply forces and then trace the forces in the filaments. Would SimMechanics help with this? Thank you

SimMechanics may be able to help with some of this, but it sounds like general Simscape (required for SimMechanics) will be a greater help as it allows for custom block creating. If I was you I would try to find a demo that is close or relatable to your end goal and work from that. It's tough to find a products limitations unless you give it a shot (using a Trial).
