Detect Music Tones and get tone wav file name in text format

Hi,

i have a set of tones as separate .wav files.. i will play it in some sequence and store in a single .wav file... When i play back, i want the text sequence to get generated..i mean their filenames in order in which they are played..

i am thinking to detect frequency values of tones and get the text sequence updated... any other techniques..??
