Problem using nitfread in R2011a

I recently installed 7.12.0 (R2011a), and noticed I was getting different numbers running some statistics on NITF images than I had gotten running the same images in 7.8.0 (R2009a). I read in the images using nitfread. Entropy, mean, and standard deviation values were coming out different, as well as the minimum value. I found pixels where the same image had a positive value in the old version of Matlab, and 0 value in the new version. The stats I got from old Matlab matched those I calculated using ENVI.
When I plotted the NITF in R2011a (using imagesc), I could see that there were black boxes cut out of random parts of the image, and sometimes chunks would be shifted down. This happened with several different NITFs.
Anyone know if there's been some change in how nitfread operates in the updated version of Matlab?
