Changing Java 6 64-bit to 32-bit for MATLAB activation

1 view (last 30 days)
Hi,
I am currently running Lion (10.7) on my Mac and am trying to active MATLAB Student 2009 but am having a great deal of trouble with changing the Java 6 priority to 32-bit CPU-TYPE instead of 64-bit. Every time I open Java Preferences and drag the 32-bit above the 64-bit and quit, the activation still fails with the same result. When I go back to check Java Preferences, 64-bit manages to creep its way back up above 32-bit in priority.
Wondering if anyone has had this issue and how they gave 32-bit priority. Do I need to tweak any browsers so that they are in 32-bit mode to keep 32-bit mode in highest priority?
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks, JP
