connecting MATLB to Bloomberg: Error using blp (line 84)

I am trying to use blp() function to connect to Bloomberg. I get the following error. Error using blp (line 84) Failed to open //blp/refdata
I have BB running in the background. I also added the blpapi3.jar to the javaclasspath. Also bbcomm.exe *32 is also running. Any idea what is going on? Thanks
