FFT2 producing artifacts in output.

When applied to a function with circular symmetry (only reduced by discretization of data), FFT2 produces a circularly symmetric output (as it should) plus some deformations along the vertical and horizontal directions, which I cannot explain. Increasing the sampling "density" will only make the FFT2 have larger field of view (FOV), but the artifacts persist. Any help would be appreciated.
