RS232 xPC Target Blocks

Hi,
I'm trying to get data in through a serial cable using the RS232 blocks. There are many RS232 blocks that appear to be identical, what are the differences? And which blocks should I use?
The data should be coming in as hexadecimal data, but it seems as though nothing is being received, and zeros are being output instead.
