Least sq fit of strainght line

I have a histogram and i want to fit it with a function of form
y(x)= mx+c
how to do that...also after that i have to find the uncertainity

use polyfit
Actually, explain more fully what you're after fitting and how the histogram comes into it...do you have the underlying data or only the bins/counts?
