Unit-Testing SIMULINK models using basic MATLAB and SIMULINK functionality

4 views (last 30 days)
I have a set of mixed-complexity SIMULINK models that I need to perform unit tests on. I know that Mathworks provides a test framework toolbox/blockset that can be used for this job. However, I don't have the budget to support an additional toolbox/blockset for this.
My understanding is that if I manage to create a subsystem of my model, I can use it in another SIMULINK model where I can plug in "From Workspace" and "To Workspace" blocks in order to supply inputs and verify the model outputs. Is that the only programmatic way to test SIMULINK models? Is my approach correct?
N.B. I have basic MATLAB+SIMULINK with Embedded Coder only. Kind Regards,

Hi,
if your model has root input ports and output ports you might think of using model reference to include the model into a test model. Yes: basically it boils down to exercise the model with input vectors and expected output.
