Trouble with Deployment Tool when trying to create a C++ shared object library

I am having an issue creating a shared object library file. I have added all the needed functions to the deployment tool and am seeing this error:

Error: An error occurred while shelling out to mbuild (error code = 9). Unable to build executable.

Any ideas on what could be causing the above error?
