How could I read this data(NASTRAN bdf file) in matlab

MAT1 6 246000. .3 1.705-8

I need to read numbers of above data. The numbers are 6, 246000, 0.3, 1.705e-8 But I don't know how to read above data format. There are no e at the last term but matlab should read this as 1.705e-8. Please let me know the reading data format.

Another problem w/ no Fortran-compatible READ/FORMAT functions in Matlab, unfortunately.

Can any of the other values in the file be negative? If not, the crude solution would be to read on a line-by-line basis (fgetl, say) and do a strrep of '-e' for '-' then parse the line.

If can't be that simple, add additional logic to ensure it's only a '-' embedded in a numeric string rather than at the beginning of one-- regexp is good for such jobs.

In checking to ensure couldn't do it simply, appear to have discovered a bug in textscan in R2012b; it barfs on '%e' as a format string...anybody want to confirm on R2013?

ERRATUM: Actually, it's not a bug, it's a "feature" -- documented that '%e' isn't in the list of format strings accepted. Whassup w/ that, how much trouble can it be to pass it along to the C i/o runtime?

So, how did you resolve it for the history and potentially for others (altho it'll be hard for anybody else to find w/ the specific title rather than something like "How to read E format input w/o explicit E in field?") might as well at least have the resolution included.
