Is there any way to get rid this execrable ribbons stuff and restore a basic menu bar on version 2013b? Is there any way to do this, or do I have to revert to an older release of Matlab?

Another question: I'm using R2013a on a different computer, and I want to downgrade it to R2012b so I have a real user interface in the IDE. Where the hell is the damned Help>Check for Updates option on this lousy ribbon interface? I've wasted over an hour looking for it and I'm baffled.

What waste of time! I used to love Matlab, and now it's just as bad as MS Office.

There is no way to revert to the old IDE from within MATLAB R2012b or greater.
The check for updates is on the home tab under resources:

Thank you!
How do download an older version? Is that possible?

Found it! I'm back to R2011b, very thankfully.
I really hope Mathworks offers a ribbon-free option in the future. In the meantime, there's really no reason to upgrade.
