Why are my signal names lost when I copy and paste connected blocks in Simulink 6.1 (R14SP1)?

I am trying to copy a group of blocks in Simulink. I select, copy, and paste them into another model. In the new model, the signal names I had assigned to the signals no longer appear.

This bug has been fixed in Release 14 Service Pack 2 (R14SP2). For previous releases, please read below for any possible workarounds:
We have verified that there is a bug in Simulink 6.1 (R14SP1) in the way that it handles copying and pasting connected blocks into a new (or the same) model. The problem stems from the way signal properties are handled when connected blocks are selected and copied.
To work around this issue, you can try creating a subsystem from the selected blocks and then copying and pasting the subsystem.
