Is there an alternative to Wind River SingleStep for use with Target for Freescale MPC5xx?

I would like to use the Wind River Compiler and SingleStep debugger with Target for Freescale MPC5xx but I am unable to purchase a copy of SingleStep. I would like to know what options are available to me.

Wind River Systems have announced that the SingleStep compiler is "end-of-lifed" and no longer available. Wind River offer Wind River Workbench On-Chip Debugging Edition as a replacement for SingleStep.

In principle, it may be possible to use Wind River Workbench On-Chip Debugging Edition with Target for Freescale MPC5xx as an alternative to SingleStep. However, MathWorks has not successfully tested this approach. Note that the Wind River Workbench includes the Wind River Compiler and this is fully tested and supported with Target for Freescale MPC5xx; for supported versions of the Wind River Compiler, check the following product requirements page or the Target for Freescale MPC5xx product documentation.

An alternative to using the Wind River Compiler and Single Step is to use Freescale CodeWarrior Development Studio, MPC5xx Edition.
