Why does the Instrument Control Toolbox 2.1 (R14SP1) view two Tektronix scopes that run TekVISA servers as the same object?

1 view (last 30 days)
I want to use the Instrument Control Toolbox to communicate with two Tektronix scopes that run TekVISA servers. However, when I view my hardware through the Test & Measurement Tool using TMTOOL, the same IP address is shown for both scopes. As a result, if I create two interface objects (one for each scope), the same TCPIP-VISA object name is generated for both.

This bug has been fixed in Release 14 Service Pack 3 (R14SP3). For previous product releases, read below for any possible workarounds:
We have verified that there is a problem when using the Instrument Control Toolbox to view two Tektronix scopes that causes it to find only one scope. To work around this issue, try setting the "Descriptor Alias" in the TekVISA drivers. When this is set, the drivers will use that instead of the resource string, and the Instrument Control Toolbox should find both scopes.
