Why do I receive an error when I click on any part of the MATLAB 6.5 (R13) desktop while I have a file name selected for renaming within the Current Directory browser?
To reproduce the problem, do the following:
1) Open MATLAB and CD to any non-empty directory
2) Select tab "Current Directory" in the MATLAB Desktop
3) Select any file, right click - "Rename".
4) Press Ctrl-C (windows copy shortcut for copying of the name of file).
5) Now try to click on any other part of screen.
An error message box titled Current Directory with the following text is generated:
Cannot create file. The file may already exist or the filename may contain invalid characters.

This bug has been fixed in Release 14 Service Pack 2 (R14SP2). For previous releases, please read below for any possible workarounds:
This is a bug in the Current Directory Browser in MATLAB 6.5 (R13). Our development staff is investigating this issue.
As a workaround, when the cursor is in the editable filename box, instead of clicking outside, hit the escape key if you do not want to rename your file.
