How do I avoid "registry configuration" errors when trying to start MATLAB 6.1 (R12.1) on my Windows 2000 machine?
As an administrator, I installed MATLAB 6.1 (R12.1) on my Windows 2000 computer. I can run MATLAB perfectly well. However, when I log off and one of my users (who does not have administrator privileges) tries to start MATLAB, it gives them a "registry configuration" Error. How can my users avoid receiving this message?

You can work around this problem by modifying the privileges of MATLAB on the system. To do this, follow these directions:
1) Log into the Windows 2000 computer as an administrator. Start MATLAB, then close it.
2) Open Explorer and find the directory containing the profile information about the programs in the Start menu for all users. The last portion of the path should be \All Users\Start Menu\Programs\; the first part varies from system to system. It is often in the root Windows directory.
3) Right click the MATLAB 6.1 directory and access the properties. In the Security tab. Give modify privileges to "Domain Users" and full privileges to "Domain Admins"
