Why does Ctrl+C not halt the SOUND command in MATLAB 7.0 (R14) and later versions under Mac OSX?

The following steps illustrate the problem:
1. Execute the following code:
a=0:0.1:1e6;
sound(a);
2. Now, try to break out of SOUND command using Ctrl+C
The SOUND command will complete execution before throwing an error due to Ctrl+C.
