When starting the Image Acquisition Tool with the IMAQTOOL command, the following error message appears:
ERROR: ??? The property 'HImrect' in class 'iatbrowser.ROIRect' cannot be set to its initial value.
Undefined variable "imrect" or class "imrect.empty".
Error in ==> ROIRect>ROIRect.ROIRect at 45
function obj = ROIRect (hFigure, hAxis)
Error in ROIGUIElementsController>ROIGUIElementsController.ROIGUIElementsController at 52
obj.HROIRect = iatbrowser.ROIRect(hFigure, hAxis);
Error in ==> C:\Program Files\MATLAB\2008b\toolbox\imaq\imaq\@iatbrowser\@Browser\initializxe.p>initialize at 44
Error in ==> C:\Program Files\MATLAB\2008b\toolbox\imaq\imaq\@iatbrowser\@Browser\Browser.p>Browser at 16
Error in imaqtool at 26
browser = iatbrowser.Browser
The IMAQTOOL window does appear, and I see my camera listed in the "Hardware Browser" pane, but I am unable to select a device format. The mouse cursor remains as an hourglass, and does not change.
Furthermore, I am unable to close the IMAQTOOL window by clicking on 'x'. I must restart MATLAB in order to close it.

This error may occur when the Image Processing Toolbox is not installed alongside the Image Acquisition Toolbox when using MATLAB 7.7 (R2008b) or later.
Beginning in release R2008b, the Image Processing Toolbox became a required installation for proper operation of the Image Acquisition Toolbox. This is mentioned in the following Image Acquisition Toolbox 3.2 (R2008b) Release Notes page, which lists the necessary steps to ensure that both toolboxes are installed:
