- For MATLAB before R2021b: $PREFDIR\shortcuts.xml
- For MATLAB R2021b: $PREFDIR\shortcuts_2.xml

I want to transfer MATLAB shortcuts that I created on one machine to another. Therefore, I need to know where these files are located on my machine.

Take the following steps to transfer MATLAB shortcuts to another computer.
1. Rename the following XML-file:
where $PREFDIR is the MATLAB directory containing preferences files, as returned by typing the following at the MATLAB Command Prompt:
>> prefdir
Rename the file to "shortcuts.xml.old" ("shortcuts_2.xml.old" or "FavoriteCommands.xml.old").
2. Transfer the desired XML file to a different machine. Place the new file in the same directory mentioned in step 1.
3. Restart MATLAB.
4. After restarting MATLAB, issue the following command at the MATLAB Command Prompt:
>> rehash toolboxcache
