I was first introduced to computational mathematics as an undergraduate physics student working summers coding FORTRAN for numerical relativity. In graduate school I switched to MATLAB, using it to investigate DSP strategies for biomedical acoustics. In my professional career, I use MATLAB extensively to prototype data processing algorithms and work closely with the software developers who subsequently implement them (usually in C or C++). I've worked in the areas of digital radiographic imaging, distributed acoustic sensing, and am currently employed in the field of gravitational sensing.
