We compare computed temperature distributions using both pdepe and analytical solutions for different geometries (slab, cylinder and sphere). Solids are kept initially at uniform temperature. For t>0, the boundary surface is kept at constant temperature. Results show excellent agreement. Analytical solutions are derived in the book by M. D. Mikhailov and M. N. Özisik, Unified Analysis and Solutions of Heat and Mass Diffusion, Dover, 1994.
