Turns a figure window into a flight simulator so you can explore your 3-D data.

Description

EXPLORE3D lets you interactively explore your 3-D data. After you create a 3-D plot, use EXPLORE3D to fly around in the figure window using keyboard controls much like you would a flight simulator.

Very nice.

You should change the default "peaks" example to have an "axis tight" command, since the auto resize tends to jerk things around. Also "axis off" would be nice. "axis off tight"

Be sure you read Matthew Simoneau's review before using EXPLORE3D. With Matthew's fix, I got a twofer: a nice 3D utility, and an explanation for how to fix my own previously-disappointing 3D animations.

Very good. Setting the figure property "DoubleBuffer" to on will also help with the "jerking" that Matt mentions

It works very smoothly but
the simulator does not seem to include
a rotation with an axis parallel to the
plane of the figure. I can not get 'behind'
the 3-d surface. Maybe I missed a command.

Good, set(gca,'CameraPosition',[0 0 0]) first to be able to look 'behind' the 3-d surface.
