File Information
Description

Stephen Lunzman (Caterpillar), Dallas Kennedy and Steve Miller (The MathWorks)

Systems modeled include clutches, transmission, and pistons. The friction is continuous or hybrid continuous-locking type. Locking friction requires mode iteration and algebraic loops.

MATLAB Digest article linked to this submission: http://www.mathworks.com/company/newsletters/digest/2008/may/friction.html

NOTE: If you receive MATLABĀ® command line warnings upon opening these models in a later version of Simulink, resave, close, and reopen the models in the later version.

This submission has inspired the following:
Physical Modeling of Mechanical Friction
Required Products SimDriveline
SimMechanics
Simscape
Simulink
MATLAB release MATLAB 7.5 (R2007b)
Other requirements - continuousPiston and lockingPiston depend on SimMechanics. - continuousClutch3 and multiClutch depend on SimDriveline. - JPGs needed as support files for two models - M-file script for use with continuousPiston, which must be loaded first
