Description

This program was designed for constructing templates for quantal synaptic responses in a minimal stimulus paradigm for data collected from synapses in the hippocampus. It is important to be able to determine successes and failures in these records. The program generates an average template for putative successes at a fixed time interval after the stimulus This template is then used to eliminate any spontaneous and recurrent events. For example, successes can be selected if their half rise time iss within one millisecond and the onset and peak was within two milliseconds of the template. To confirm the appropriate designation of successes or failures, the current amplitude is measured for putative failures at the time when a success would otherwise have occurred and compared to the baseline noise measured at the end of the same sweep. The appropriate designation of successes and failures is confirmed when these two measurements do not differ statistically by paired t-test.
