LEDbar (a fast and simple embedded progress bar without axes)
LEDbar Version 1.0
This LED style progress bar is a simple and nice looking way to do progress bars without patch or figure command. It can be used as an alternative to MATLAB's waitbar.
LEDbar is freeware. Launch an included application example to see instructions on screen. There are two examples, the second one adds an Abort button to the first one.
I tried other embedded progress bar (wait bar) methods before. They required updating axes. That causes screen flickering even with 'Doublebuffer' set to 'on.' Because there is no drawing involved in LEDbar, this method is fast. The bar can be easily dragged to any part of the GUI screen by beginners.
Created using MATLAB R13 (Version 6.x). Tested OK for R14 (Version 7.x). Not tested for higher versions yet.
