Directional long-range filters pool local signals with the same, or nearly the same, directional preference over a larger spatial range and project to middle temporal area neurons, which in turn activate a directional grouping network in (ventral) medial superior temporal area.
(For better visualization of real-time middle temporal neuronal responses, the 60 x 60 space is tessellated into 3 x 3 blocks, and a directional population vector is computed for each block.)
