Animate simple objects based on inputs from a Simulink model.

File Information
Description

The Ansim directory is a collection of functions for MATLAB and a corresponding block for Simulink that are used to animate simple objects based on inputs from a Simulink model. Animation and setup are implemented in a Graphical User Interface (GUI) environment that allows the user to be hands off' the Simulink simulation.

Users have a choice of five object types that are available for animation: dot, line, patch, text and rectangle. Each of the objects has properties which can either be constant values or be dependent upon an input from the Simulink model. Any number of objects may be added, modified or deleted.

Other functionality that has been built in to the animation GUI includes the ability to control a number of axis parameters and the ability to save and load animation setups.

For a demonstration of the block, change to the ansim directory, and type ansimtest from the MATLAB command line. When the SIMULINK model appears, double click on the Animation Block. The Animation Figure Window will appear. You will then be prompted to see if you want to load a specific animation configuration file. Select the option to load the file and the setup will be completed. Edit objects by double-clicking on them, or just start the simulation and watch the animation.

cannot get it to work, when i try to run the example, the following message occurs...

Works well for visualizing vibrations in structures. I wish there was more documentation on how to generate the animation environment from the command line. Command line setup would be nice for situations where the number-of-points-to-animate change with parameters of the simulated system.

pas mal pour rajouter une petite animation vite fait mais il y a des bugs

Works well in Matlab versions 6.1 and earlier. I have used it to create several animations for use in the classroom including multi degree of freedom vibrations, and mode shapes, and graphical interpretation of the Bode and nyquist diagrams. An excellent tool. Wish there were an updated version for 6.5.1 or 7.0. Would also be great if there were a feature to export the animations as Matlab movies.

Doesn't work in R14 SP3 or SP2.
Can't get the demo to work.
It would be really useful if it did.

Very good animation software. If you are a student it helps you to visualize control systems.

Mr. Chang is huggable for his hard work.

Like what the previous writer pointed out, how do get Ansim to work in later versions such as R14? Noticed that there are changes to enhance compatibility.

Mr. Chang is very helpful for new users like me. Thanks for his time.

The readme document that comes with ansim.zip indicates that one can select "leave tracks" or "clear tracks".
I can see these two options appearing and disappearing quickly on the status bar during simulation but was unable to set either of them. I am using R2007A version.

Very useful program. Professor Chang is one of the best professors, a hard working and a professor that really cares about students.
