Overview of the User Interface

The user interface for NESim consists of 4 parts. Each of these is described below. More detail is available by following the linked headings. In addition you need a text editor to write the simulation files. The internal Matlab editor is suitable.

1. Simulator

This is the main simulator window where the actual running of the simulations that have been defined takes place.

2. Data Plots

This panel allows the user to define what information is plotted when the simulation is run.

3. Signal Generator

This panel allows the user to define what the external input signals to the system are. These can be any of 5 predefined types of signal, or an arbitrary user-provided signal in a .mat file.

4. Ensemble Generator

This panel supports the generation of neural ensembles to be used in the system being simulated. These are referenced in the system definition compiled in the Editor.
