Description

The function runs the standard Windows browse for folder dialog box. The wrapper M-file UIGETFOLDER calls a MEX file uigetfolder_win32.dll, that handles the Win32 API stuff.

The C-MEX function uigetfolder_win32 was compiled in MATLAB Version 5.3.1.29215a (R11.1) using the built in Lcc 2.4 compiler.

The function has been tested in MATLAB Version 5.3.1.29215a (R11.1), and MATLAB Version 6.0.0.72999a (R12) Pre-release.

Finally the routine for folder selection.
The working is perfect and looks nice. However, it would be nice to change the (dutch) dialog name.

First of all: I'm happy that finally folder selection is possible in Matlab. I have been
missing this frequently.
Then: for this rating I wanted to see where limitations of the function are. These are
my findings:
1) I have not been able to find any real errors.
2) Long folder names are wrapped at the end of the window. The second line is then
hardly visible.
3) I would prefer to have my text on the window title rather than in the text area, so
more like Matlab does with uigetfile and uiputfile.

Don't get much more simpler to use then this. If you need a select folder dialog box this is it (should be part of Matlab). Only criticism is that there should be an edit box to allow for pasting of directory string as lots of time full directory path info is something easily obtainable from within matlab (e.g. pwd, which) rather than having to traverse a diretory tree.

This product is almost identical to Matlab's uigetdir, but it has the advantage of being compilable. uigetdir cannot be compiled into a .exe file. Nice job Neil !
