Plots normalized impedance in a Smith chart.

Description

The routine plots normalized impedance in a Smith chart, i.e. by conformal mapping or Moebius mapping.

The routine handles reflection coefficient values outside the unit circle, i.e. active circuits. The routine is based on the polar.m routine from MATLAB and is free from the legend problems pertaining to other MATLAB routines for the same purpose.

Known shortcomings of the present version are that the radii of the grid circles are hardwired, and that the grid has no units. Feel free to add this functionality if you wish.

MATLAB release MATLAB 6.5 (R13)
Other requirements I am no expert, but I believe that this should run in plain vanilla MATLAB under any possible circumstances

I found it so usable in my design work, with the non linear transmission line adaptation, at high frequencies using the Smith chart to visualize the coverage of impedances.

the equi-R curves are not right. There is something wrong in the transform.

Matlab RF toobox function has the same (and more) functionality and plots much nicer smith charts.
