This function convert a RGB image to gray inmage with or without filtering at user response.

As to the problem formulation: a real and practically important problem is to recover Cdata from any image, like Z=peaks; h=surf(Z); shading interp colormap hsv Cdata=get(h,'cdata') Here Cdata is the same as Z. However, if you export an image in one of formats like .jpg, .tif, etc, the problem of recovery Cdata from the saved image is not that easy.
