This is a nice and very useful piece of code that works well. I tried it not only with the downloadable MRI dataset ( but also with a commercial 3T Philips MRI dataset (1024x1024 pixels/slice) without problems. It also shows how to integrate a GUI.
This was a welcome improvement on the recent Digest article (Nov 2002): the example given of reading an MRI dataset doesn't work.
