Description

Title: Secrets of the Tide: Tide & Tidal Current Analysis and Predictions, Storm Surges, and Sea Level Trends. Horwood Publishing Limited, 2004.

MATLAB programs for the analysis and prediction of ocean tides and tidal currents with graphic display of data and evaluation statistics.

Two MATLAB programs with GUIs have been written to accompany a new book on ocean tides and currents. Tidal analysis is accomplished by least squares harmonic fitting of nine tidal constituents using monthly water level and water current records available from government and institutional web sites in the United States and Europe. Predictions of both tides and currents can be generated for scientific, instructional and commercial purposes but are not intended for applications involving navigation or marine safety. The tidal programs are well-suited for storm surge analysis and evaluation of non-tidal fluctuations in sea level.

I am interesting your software

This is a very nice and easy-to-use software. Even you know little about tides, you are the expert in tidal analysis by using this software. It is pretty good to predict tides for my location at which the tidal table is not available.

Hi, Capt.Mukaram Chaudhary:
It's fine for me and the size is only 2.4M. Maybe it's your internet problem. Please try to download again in another time or place where the internet is good.

Updates
25 Mar 2004

Fourier periodogram added to file sta_export.p - replaces current file of same name in SIMPLYTIDES directory. Also add LidoVenice excel file to same directory and add NEW FEATURE pdf file next to READ THIS FIRST pdf file.

10 Nov 2004

Existing programs updated to work with MATLAB version 7.0.
2. M-files added for basic command line version of programs
3. New program, STPLUS, added for tidal regimes of large range and small form number (e.g. Great Britain & Ireland).

27 Jun 2005

Programs simplytides, simplycurrents, and stplus have been updated to correct format problem reading Excel data files when using Matlab version 7.

18 Jul 2005

GUI programs have been updated to correct problem with xlsread function when using MATLAB version 7 - users no longer need to convert date & time to numeric format in Excel data files.

24 Oct 2006

Complete revision of tides and currents analysis & predictions programs. Demo versions of new programs WORLD TIDES & WORLD CURRENTS available at no cost. Full versions available at www.worldtidesandworldcurrents.com.

26 Feb 2007

Programs coopsR6m and coopsVhr have been added to transfer NOAA/NOS water level data to Excel files ready for use by WORLD TIDES. NOTE: WORLD TIDES & WORLD CURRENTS are now available ANC at MATLAB Central>Link Exchange>Earth Sciences and Mapping.
