. The main objective of this paper is to present a brief review of FEM and its application to model and simulate properties of optical wave propagation for various core radius of single mode fiber (SMF) .
There are 3 main steps in FEM:
• The solution region is divided into suitable number of elements
• Assign nodal points to the boundary region of elements and define an interpolation function to solve for the element properties
• Solve the element properties with matrix equation using Variational approach
