Description

HiperLAN/2 is a European (ETSI) standard for high-rate wireless LANs, based on OFDM, operating in the 5GHz band and offering raw data rates up to 54Mbit/s. At the PHY layer it is very similar to IEEE 802.11a. This is a reference model showing TX side coding and modulation for the 16QAM, 3/4 code rate mode, with a corresponding ideal receiver chain and AWGN channel. The model is a good example of the use of frame-based processing in Simulink simulations as the OFDM symbols provide a natural frame size for the model.

As a reference quite nice, but the IDFT/DFT is wrong implemented (the standard does not use the weighting factor 1/64 in the IDFT but in the DFT!) and the model is not suitable for low SNRs (real signal power in HiperLAN2 is 200mW) as the Viterbi decoder produces errors

I think the results are not correct because of the puncture and insert zero block. I´ve made a model very close to it using another PHY mode (with no puncture and with 9/16 puncture) and I get good results:for example, in 16QAM 9/16 puncture, BER=2.33e-6 for SNR=19 dB. I´m trying the same configuration, but changing the puncture vector for 3/4 and BER is around 0.5.

I'm sending this mail hoping will get the helpful reply to my question, or at least redirect me to who can help with that!

I'm using the hiperlan2 file at the demos of the simulink MATLAB.
the output of this file is OFDM signal with 16QAM mapping at baseband.

My question is that, if I want to upconvert this output to a higher frequency as RF within the MATLAB, how can I do so!!!!????? as I need to upconvert the OFDM signal to an RF frequency and use it at some other applications!!

This standard is 54Mbps or is it 36Mbps??

I thought that in 16QAM with 3/4 code rate mode offering raw data rates i up to 36Mbit/s, not 54Mbps
